USEB Companion Browser: A Complete Overview

May 20, 2026  ·  5 min read

The USEB Companion Browser is a premium feature bundled with our 1-Year and Lifetime plans. It's a lightweight Electron-based application that runs alongside UnSafeExamBrowser and gives you a separate, controllable workspace during an exam session.

What It Is

USEB ("UnSafeExamBrowser Companion") is a standalone browser application included inside the same installer as UnSafeExamBrowser when you purchase a 1-Year or Lifetime license. There is no separate download or setup — it's already there when you finish installing.

What It Does

Once UnSafeExamBrowser is running, USEB sits in the background, ready to be shown or hidden at any time. Common use cases include:

How to Toggle It

USEB is controlled with a single global keyboard shortcut:

Shift + A + S

Press and hold Shift, then A, then S. The first press shows USEB; the next press hides it. There is no delay, no animation, and no notification — the switch is instant.

When to Use It

The Companion Browser is most useful when you need a second surface that you can summon and dismiss quickly. Because it runs as a separate process, it doesn't interfere with whatever is happening inside UnSafeExamBrowser itself.

What You Don't Need to Do

You don't need to install anything extra. You don't need to download a separate executable. You don't need to configure ports or settings. If your plan includes USEB, the toggle just works.
